Rapper Jul's Logo to Feature on Marseille Kits

After Barcelona and Drake, Marseille are the second club this season to have a rapper's logo on their shirt. The logo of local rapper Jul will appear on the sleeve of OM's kits.

Jul's Logo to Appear on Marseille Kits

Marseille recently announced a deal with the record label of local artist Jul, the most commercially successful rapper in French history. Jul himself is fan of the club and was even a player for at their academy when he was a child. The logo of his "d'Or et de Platine" (gold and platinum) label will be present on the left sleeve of Marseille's kits until the end of the season.

Marseille played their first match with their new sponsor last night and the game kicked off in unusual fashion. Jul was permitted to come onto the pitch and take the first touch of the match (while wearing socks and sliders), passing the ball from the centre circle to the defence before leaving the pitch.

This is not Marseille's first time mixing with the French rap industry. Another local star, Alonzo, released a song and video to coincide with the launch of the club's kits for the 19-20 season. He was roped in again alongside fellow rapper and Marseille native, l'Algerino, to feature in a second rapping promo video, this time for Uber Eats, OM's shirt sponsor at the time.

Both Jul and Alonzo got to wear the famous white and blue shirt on the pitch in a charity game back in 2021, playing on the same team as Didier Drogba, Samir Nasri, Marcel Desailly, Fabrizio Ravanelli and Djibril Cisse.
