Nike France 2022 World Cup Away Kit Design Based on One-Off Jersey Created by Former Adidas Designer?

The new Nike France 2022 World Cup away kit has a one-of-a-kind design. However, it is not as unique as it appears to be at first glance.

Nike France 2022 World Cup Away Jersey Inspired by Traditional Toile de Jouy

The France 2022 World Cup jersey features a special graphic print that features things France is famous for - the Arc de Triomphe, scenes of the French Revolution of 1789, and windmills. It is a unique-looking design but is nothing invented by Nike.

In fact, the design of the France 2022 World Cup away kit itself draws inspiration from the classic French Toile de Jouy fabric printing.

The French "Toile de Jouy" simply means "cloth from Jouy" in English and describes a type of fabric printing. "Toile de Jouy", sometimes abbreviated to simply "toile", is a type of decorating pattern consisting of a white or off-white background on which is a repeated pattern depicting a fairly complex scene, generally of a pastoral theme such as a couple having a picnic by a lake or an arrangement of flower
Nike did not base the design on the Adidas France concept by the former Adidas designers

Interestingly, former Adidas Senior Designer Christian Jeffery created a one-off Adidas France concept kit using a traditional toile de jouy fabric back in February 2022. It boasts a design that is remarkably similar to Nike's France kit.

However, Nike already completed France's 2022 World Cup collection in early/mid-2021, so it is sure that Nike did base their kit on the concept of the former Adidas designer.

Nike will also release a jacket with the design of the away kit. With the graphic print being blue here, the design becomes better visible.
