Nottingham Forest to Start Season in Sponsorless Shirts? Still Without Main Sponsor

Newly-promoted Nottingham Forest are still without a shirt sponsor for the 22-23 season, less than two weeks out from the start of the campaign. Sportbusiness report that they have already refused proposals that do not match their desired fee of £10 million per season.

Nottingham Forest Without Shirt Sponsor

Forest have revealed their new shirts and new signings with the chest left blank. They had been sponsored by boiler manufacturer BOXT last season, but the company confirmed on Monday that they will not be renewing that deal. Prior to that, virtual stock market and betting platform Football Index adorned their shirts, but that partnership ended abruptly when the company collapsed, in what should serve as a cautionary tale for other clubs when it comes to getting into bed with betting and crypto sponsorships.

Now that Nottingham Forest can boast Premier League status, they are in a position to negotiate more valuable contracts with sponsors thanks to the vastly increased exposure they can guarantee potential suitors. BOXT say they had a "multi million pound offer" to remain as shirt sponsor turned down, and therefore decided to pull out of the race.

The club were in negotiations with other companies but have not yet received an offer that they deem acceptable, with SportBusiness reporting that a deal worth around £10 million a season would see them put pen to paper. It remains to be seen who will stump up the cash to have their name on the front of Forest's shirt, or if the club will have to settle for a smaller sum. For now, starting the Premier League season in sponsorless shirts is a real possibility.
