Arsenal 22-23 Third Kit Features Pattern Taken From Old Club Logo

Update: The new Arsenal 2022-2023 third kit was officially released on Friday. As already leaked, it features a subtle Ermine pattern inspired by the old Arsenal crest.

The kit sees the return of the Ermine pattern, an icon first seen on the Arsenal crest in the late 1940s, which also displayed the club’s motto; “Victoria Concordia Crescit” or “Victory Through Harmony” – a phrase which is still adopted and used by Arsenal to this day.

Arsenal are using the Ermine pattern for many of the promotional images.

The Arsenal 22-23 third kit introduces a fresh design in pink, black and green for the North London club, but also has a traditional element incorporated.

Arsenal 22-23 Third Kit Feature Ermine Pattern Of Old Crest

The Arsenal 22-23 away kit has a very subtle pattern. It consists of ermines, which are often seen in coats of arms, for example. For Arsenal's 22-23 third kit, it is directly derived from the old Arsenal badge, which also featured it.

Ermines are featured in the historic flags of different regions

The Ermine in heraldry is a "fur", a type of tincture, consisting of a white background with a pattern of black shapes representing the winter coat of the stoat (a species of weasel with white fur and a black-tipped tail).

Flag of Brittany

Ermines are also featured in the historic flags of different regions, including Brittany, Leicestershire, and Norfolk.

There are many variations of ermine spots in heraldry over the centuries.

The Arsenal 22-23 third kit was released in July 2022.
