Adidas to Use Old & New Logo In 2022 World Cup

Some days ago, the Adidas 2022 World Cup ball was leaked. However, it features the "old" Adidas logo - let us find out why.

Current Adidas Logo: Adidas 2022 World Cup Ball to Be Already Launched In April 2022

The reason for the Adidas 2022 World Cup ball to feature the old logo is pretty simple - the football will be already launched on 1 April 2022, the date of the 2022 World Cup draw.

Adidas do not want to showcase the new logo in April when the ball is unveiled but in September 2022 with the launch of the World Cup kits

However, the new Adidas logo will be not introduced before the launch of the 2022 World Cup kits certainly - we expect them to be revealed in September 2021. The last and only international fixtures in 22-23 before the 2022 World Cup will take place between 19–27 September 2022.

Adidas want certainly to prevent launching the ball with the new logo in April and shortly later launch the 22-23 kits with the old logo, in May. All Adidas stuff until the 2022 World Cup items will come with the current Adidas logo - the 22-23 kits, the first boot releases of 22-23 as well as all other gear.

The 22-23 kits feature the old logo

From late 2022 and the 2022 World Cup, in particular, Adidas will use the new logo for all Adidas Performance stuff. The Adidas 2022 World Cup kits, boots, keeper gloves, and other new stuff will feature the new logo.

In fact, the 2022 World Cup referee kits will certainly also feature the current "old" logo.

So, in the 2022 World Cup, there will be inconsistency. The ball and referee kits with the old Adidas logo, everything else with the new.

The Adidas 2023 teamwear kits and the Adidas MLS 2023 kits will of course also come with the new branding.
