Atlético Mineiro Announce Adidas Deal - No More Special Kits?
Update: Having just won our "Kit of the Year" competition, Brazilian champions Atlético Mineiro actually announced a kit deal with Adidas in mid-December.
The three-stripe brand will replace Le Coq Sportif for the 2022 season, which likely means that there won't be another special kit like the "Manto da Massa" - Adidas are not really known to produce such unique designs. In the case of the Manto da Massa, it was actually closely based on a fan design that won a contest.

Brazilian club Atlético MG today announced an agreement with Adidas. The Three Stripes brand will make their kits from July 2022.
Adidas replace Le Coq Sportif, who had been Atlético Mineiro's kit maker since 2019.
Adidas to make Atlético Mineiro Kits From July 2022 Until December 2025
The new Adidas Atlético MG kit deal is valid from July 2022 and will be run until December 2025.
With the agreement, Galo returns to wear the three stripes after more than three decades. Adidas had been making the club's kits from 1983 to 1985.
No financial details have surfaced yet. The club's board was looking "for an internationally renowned supplier to help in the internationalization project of the “Atlético” brand throughout the world".
“The agreement with Adidas reinforces our commitment to associate the Galo brand with world leaders”, highlights Sérgio Coelho, president of Atlético. "The brand will contribute so that more fans, in various parts of the world, can access Atlético products."
“We are very honored with the return of the three stripes to the Atlético Mineiro uniform. We believe in the strength of our partnership, which will begin next year, and look forward to showing fans our product portfolio,” says Adidas Senior Director of Marketing Daniela Valsani.
Adidas now sponsor five big clubs in Brazil. Atlético Mineiro, Cruzeiro, São Paulo, Flamengo and Internacional.
