Kylian Mbappé To Wear No. 5 For Real Madrid?

Kylian Mbappé could join Real Madrid this summer transfer window. Now Madrid-based newspaper AS reports that "at the heart of the club (especially in the marketing department) Real Madrid are thinking about what would be the ideal number for the French star".

Mbappe Real Madrid Possible Shirt Numbers

Kylian Mbappé's current PSG number, the No. 7., is occupied by Eden Hazard. AS says that the Belgian will continue to wear it.

The No. 10, another alternative, is the number that Mbappé wears with the French national team, but that belongs to Luka Modric. Real Madrid won't give away Modric's No 10, the only Ballon d'Or winner.

La Liga only allows numbers between 1 and 23

Another option would be the No. 11 shirt. It currently belongs to Marco Asensio, who picked it up last summer when Gareth Bale left to join Tottenham on loan.

However, now it gets interesting. AS says that No. 5 would be an option for Kylian Mbappe. The No. 5 was worn by club legend Zinedine Zidane, "Mbappé's childhood hero and the man who convinced him to come to Madrid". The No. 5 is currently used by Jesús Vallejo but it is still possible to assign another player to that number.

Beckham's former No. 23 would be another interesting option

The other alternative is the 23, the former number of Beckham. The No. 23 is now worn by Ferland Mendy. Mendy is out of action this season due to his tibia injury. "A good friend of Mbappé's, who would have no problem giving it to him".

Other possible number options are the No. 19 (if Álvaro Odriozola leaves) and the No. 25 (currently used by Dani Ceballos).
