NWSL Expansion Team: First-Ever Kansas City NWSL 2021 Logo Unveiled

Kansas City's NWSL team has just unveiled their very first club logo that will already be used in 2021. Kansas City NWSL team was founded on December 7, 2020.

Kansas City NWSL is an American professional women's soccer team based in Kansas City, Missouri. It will begin play as an expansion team in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) in 2021. The NWSL Draft will already be tomorrow, on January 13.

Thematically, the first crest is centered around "playing for Kansas City". It will only be a temporary logo. In the meantime, KC NWSL team will develop a permanent name and brand for future seasons.

“It is important to us to articulate who and what we play for: our players, our fans and our city,” said KC NWSL Owner and Co-Founder Angie Long. “We are so proud of this inaugural crest and how it represents our city. At the same time, we’re excited to continue our long-term strategic branding process over the course of this upcoming year: taking the time to listen to our fans, starting with our Founding Members, and reflect their participation in the process.”

Considering the overall shape and alignment of design elements, the first-ever Kansas City NWSL team logo is in line with the trend of recent years. The club's new logo combines a roundel shape with a modern main color: teal.

Within this roundel logo there are several simple design elements. For one, there is a big navy 'KC' writing for Kansas City which features two white stars underneath, while three red diagonal stripes on the bottom left add to the simple appearance. A navy outer circle that surrounds all three elements completes the look.

In addition to the first-ever Kansas City NWSL team logo the club also released a first collection that incorporates the new logo on hoodies, tees or scarfs. Check it out below.
