FC Bayern München Supporters Continue Campaign For Red / White Kits

Update: Before today's away game against Hertha Berlin, which saw Bayern switch to their mint green away kits for no reason, the club's supporters displayed a huge choreography to repeat their request. Featuring a mid-90s Adidas home kit, they ask the club to put a paragraph in its statues to only allow red and white kits.

FC Bayern Munich supporters have started a campaign against the unusual colors of the club's recent kits such as the red, white and navy home kit and the mint green away jersey.

The Bayern Munich supporters refer to the first Paragraph of the official FC Bayern Munich club statutes. The Paragraph 1 of the Bayern Munich club statutes states that the club colors are red and white. Therefore, the FC Bayern Munich campaign started by supporters and fan groups of the club is called "Paragraph 1'. There is no specification for the kit design and colors, however.

FC Bayern Munich Supporters Only Red / White Kits Campaign

FC Bayern Munich had had only red and white kits since their foundation in 1900 until the early 1990s. In the eraly 1990s, Adidas started to release Bayern Munich kits with different colors than red and white, something that was not very much appreciated by the most dedicated supporters and even their players.

In fact, in 2000, during the Bundesliga titles celebration, Bayern Munich player Sammy Kuffour even sang a chant about red and white kits - „Wir wollen rot-weiße Trikots" (We want red-white kits).

To support the campaign, Bayern Munich fans created special banners as well as handouts that were distributed in the stadium.
