Exclusive: Nike FTR10 Features, Colorway, Release Date - All About the Boot That Will Replace the Magista

After a big sendoff at the World Cup, the Nike Magista will be no more. After revealing this rather surprising news to you a while ago, we are back with the first concrete info and tech details on its successor, the all-new Nike FTR10 (Future 10).

Nike FTR10

The Nike FTR10 Elite will replace the Magista Obra II in July 2018.

Just after the World Cup and more or less exactly two years after the release of the Magista Obra and Opus II, Nike will debut its brand-new FTR10 silo.

Although it's a big name change from the Magista, the Nike FTR10 boots can be seen as rebranding of sorts for the silo, which will continue to be headlined by Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City. The Belgian was also spotted in blackout boots tipped to be a FTR10 prototype recently.

Nike FTR10 - Features

Inspired by contemporary playmakers such as De Bruyne, the Nike FTR10 introduces a low-key and modern construction that is dominated by the entirely new 'Ghost Laces', Nike's answers to the laceless hype initiated by Adidas a couple of years back.

Not unlike to what Adidas did on the X 16+ Purechaos, the Nike FTR10 cleats come with the new Ghost Laces feature, which is essentially a second layer of knit that covers the laces to supply a more flat striking surface with fewer distractions.

It's just speculation at this point, but it wouldn't surprise us to see Nike implementing 'Ghost Laces' on more models in the future or even going full laceless.

Besides that, what stands out about the FTR10 is its more streamlined look compared to the rather garish Magista 2 and its 3-D texture. There's still a texture on the upper, but it's much less eye-catching and more evenly distributed.

The high collar is retained, in a more traditional shape than on the Magista as well.

Nike FTR10 Debut Colorway

Whereas the Magista 2 debuted in what was easily one of the most outlandish colorways of all times, the FTR10 will be initially launched in a sleek paint job that combines white with shades of gray, black and a bit of red to create a look that's very much at home in 2018.

Nike FTR10 - Release Date

As mentioned above, the Nike FTR10 will not be released before the World Cup, with the final Magista Obra and Opus 2 soccer boot colorway slated for a launch just before the tournament. The white and red Nike FTR10 debut boots should be out in early July 2018.
