Buffon to Leave Puma? Juventus Legend Covers Puma Logo From Keeper Gloves

Is Juventus' Gianluigi Buffon set to leave Puma after several years? At least at first glance, it seems so...

Gianluigi Buffon Covers Puma Logo From evoPOWER Goalkeeper Gloves

This image appears to show that Buffon is set to leave Puma.

Gianluigi Buffon, who has been sponsored by Puma for several years now, caught our attention as he covered the Puma logo from the evoPOWER goalkeeper gloves in the Champions League group stage this season. However, while this is usually an indicator that a player is set to leave a brand, this time that is not the case as the reason for his action was something different.

Buffon was forced to cover the logo because of UEFA's strict logo rules in the Champions League, which allows the brands to have a relatively small logo on the gloves only. And as the Puma logo on Buffon's keeper gloves was too big, he had to cover it with tape to align with UEFA's rules. He used the brand-new Puma evoPOWER Vigor football boots with all logos visible, making it clear that he is still sponsored by Puma.

However, Puma recognized the problem and created a special goalkeeper glove for Gianluigi Buffon featuring a black-on-black logo instead of the not-allowed large white logo of the standard gloves. Interestingly, Puma is not the only brand whose logo on the goalkeeper gloves is too big for UEFA's regulations as Nike also created special Champions League versions of their gloves with smaller logos.

Did you know that Nike created gloves with smaller logos for the Champions League? What do you think of this UEFA rule? Let us know in the comments section below.
