Germany Unveils New 'Die Mannschaft' Branding

The Germany national team unveiled the new 'Die Mannschaft' Germany logo ahead of tomorrow's friendly match against the United States.

'Die Mannschaft' is German for 'The team' and is already a commonly-used nickname of the German national team around the world. The Germany national wants to further strengthen its identity following the win of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with the new Germany national team logo.

Germany 'Die Mannschaft' Logo

This is the new Germany national team - Die Mannschaft logo.

Inspired by the badge on the Germany 2010 World Cup Kit and based on the previous 'Die Nationalmannschaft' logo, the new Germany 'Die Mannschaft' logo boasts a golden badge with a monochromatic DFB logo inside of it. Four gold stars commemorating Germany's four World Cup titles are placed above the badge.

Following the example of other major national teams like Brazil ("Seleção"), "Italy ("Squadra Azzura"), or the Netherlands ("Elftal"), who have a globally well-known name and identity, the Germany national team aims to translate the on-field characteristics of the team with the new Die Mannschaft branding.

While the Germany Kits are not expected to feature the new logo, it will be used on the team bus, stadium adboards and the like. Check out the new Germany Euro 2016 Kit, which marks a return to a classic design as well as a new Adidas 3 Stripes positioning on the sides of the jersey.
