This is the official logo for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Following the trophy-inspired 2014 World Cup logo design, the new 2018 World Cup logo is mainly red with golden, black and blue accents. The lower left side of the new World Cup logo holds the image of a celebrating footballer, while there are golden dots and stars placed on the red ground.

A custom typeface was also created for the visual idendity for the World Cup, which will kick-off in three years and eight months, on July 8, 2018. Sepp Blatter said he liked the logo as it reflected heart and soul of Russia as well as the country's cultural traditions.

The 2018 Russia World Cup logo was launched in spectacular fashion, as the logo was simultaneously revealed by three Russian astronauts at the Russian space station, in the 'Late Night Mundial' studio and via a projection on the historic Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.

Russia's sport minister Vitaly Mutko said: "To creatively capture the essence of this remarkable historic moment inspiration was drawn from both Russia's rich artistic tradition and its history of bold achievement and innovation," he said. "I hope that fans around the world will appreciate and love the Russia 2018 emblem."
